Our process
From clay
to detail.
Shaping, finishing and modelling: three perspectives on ceramic work in our Deruta workshop.

01 / Shaping
A volume
begins here.
At the machine, a tool works on the surface of the piece. The photograph shows the contact between tool and ceramic up close.
In the video below, the mould opens to reveal the bowl, and a hand works on its rim.

A tool.
A precise gesture.
The short video shows the machine opening and handwork on the rim of the bowl.

02 / Finishing
Every edge deserves
attention.
A sponge follows the rim; a small tool works along a plate’s profile. The images show two finishing gestures.
The hand stays close to the surface, following the form along its outline.
03 / Modelling
A character
takes shape.
Modelling gives a piece its expression. Faces, volumes and details emerge through successive touches.
From the initial volume to the finest features, each step shapes its character.
